frequently asked questions

What about snack time? What if my child has an allergy?

Small World is an allergy friendly school and a “nut-free” zone. Students with allergies bring their own snacks. Children who are allergy free get their snacks from the “Snack Basket”, which is provided each day by parent volunteers.

Is there a full day options?

While Small World does not provide a full day program, we do offer 3 extended days a week. We also have a large group of families that use Small World to supplement their child care plan. We are happy to provide a list of providers who offer full day coverage, with pick-up and drop-off to Small World.

Is the preschool licensed?

Yes, we are licensed by the Department of Early Education & Care of Massachusetts. Click here for licensure information.

Will my child be ready for Kindergarten?

One of Small World’s main objectives is to get your little one ready for Kindergarten. Our curriculum is designed specifically with that goal in mind. We instill a love for learning and are often told by parents their children LOVE coming to school and always go home with a smile on their faces. It is not uncommon to hear from a happy alumni parent that their child is thriving and was well prepared for Kindergarten.

What are the teacher’s credentials and training?

Our lead teachers hold Bachelor’s Degrees in Early Childhood Education and Psychology. All of our staff members meet the qualifications of the DEEC and maintain First Aid and CPR certification. Our teachers have been working together for over a decade, making for a strong skill set honed by years of experience.

Is there an outdoor play space?

Yes, Small World has a completely enclosed outdoor courtyard with toys and play structures for our students to enjoy. As weather permits, we spend time each day outdoors. Be sure to bring a hat and mittens, because we love to play outside, even in the snow!
